Akim, affectionately known as “Gaga” by the staff and children at Home of Hope, is a joyful and resilient young boy with a remarkable story. In May 2019, he was abandoned by his mother and left alone for nearly a week before concerned neighbors alerted the police. He was taken to the hospital for urgent nutrition and medical care, and Home of Hope was contacted to provide a safe and loving home. Despite extensive efforts to locate family members and reunite him with relatives, no family could be found.

Since arriving at Home of Hope, Akim has made tremendous progress. He participates in occupational and physical therapy to strengthen his fine motor skills and improve his ability to walk independently. He also takes two daily medications to manage his epilepsy. Through the consistent care of the nannies, therapists, nurses, and staff, Akim has blossomed socially and continues to grow in confidence and independence.

Akim is currently in need of sponsorship for both his daily care at Home of Hope and his education. Sponsorship of his care helps provide nutritious meals, clothing, nanny and nursing care, therapy services, medications, and other essential needs. School sponsorship helps cover tuition, uniforms, books, and school supplies, giving him the opportunity to learn, grow, and build a brighter future.

The cost of sponsorship is $45 per month for either his care or his education, or $90 per month to provide both. By sponsoring Akim, you become part of his journey and help ensure he receives the support, care, and opportunities he needs to thrive.
