The people behind Our Hope

Ann was introduced to Our Hope by a Board Member and has been a supporter ever since. Ann is the mother of a handicapped child and is inspiration by how well the children are loved and cared for despite the obstacles they face, issues that we may not understand in the United States. She hopes to carry on her son's legacy by serving as a Board Member, ensuring the precious children of Our Hope are given the opportunity to thrive.

Edith is the founder and director of Home of Hope. Edith founded HOH in 2007 after seeking resources for her son, Derrik, diagnosed with cerebral palsy. Through this journey Edith came to know Jesus and saw her purpose was to serve children with disabilities through love and advocacy. She began taking in children with disabilities who had been abandoned and her family assisted her in caring for them. Edith is the biological mother to 5 children, including Derrick who is now healed in Heaven, momma Africa to the 107 children living at HOH and an inspiration to everyone she meets.

Jan is a retired teacher and Jenny’s mother. She has been able to travel 8 times to Uganda to serve at Home of Hope. After the first visit, the children stole her heart. Their beautiful smiles were all Jan needed to decide she wanted to be a part of Our Hope International. She is the proud JJaja (Ugandan for grandmother) to three grandchildren; Carson, Kaylee and Noble.

Jewell is an occupational therapist with over 25 years of experience helping individuals live with dignity, purpose, and hope. She traveled to Uganda for the first time in 2013 with Our Hope International, a journey that forever changed her heart. Jewell is inspired by Micah 6:8… And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.

Matt holds a BA in Biblical Studies from Point University and a Master of Divinity from Mercer University. He works as a Client Assistance Manager for Project Community Connections in Atlanta who house the homeless population in Atlanta and help them gain stability. He is an avid Atlanta sports fan and can be found most weekends supporting the Falcons, Braves, and Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. Matt and his wife Emily have been married for 16 years and love taking care of their many animals including dogs, horses, and chickens.
