Mary, affectionately known as “Big Mary” because she is the oldest of three girls named Mary at Home of Hope, is a bright and caring young lady who has overcome tremendous challenges. Mary has global developmental delay associated with dyspraxia, a condition that affects coordination, balance, walking, and the ability to perform everyday motor tasks. Her parents also have significant developmental delays and were unable to provide the care and supervision she needed.

Before coming to Home of Hope, Mary spent much of her time wandering through her village in search of food and was vulnerable to neglect and harm. During community outreach visits, Home of Hope staff found her malnourished and in poor health, with parasites covering her feet. Recognizing her urgent need for care and protection, they welcomed her into the Home of Hope family.

Today, Mary is thriving in a safe and loving environment. She is an incredibly social girl who enjoys attending the local day school and has become a wonderful helper around the orphanage. She loves interacting with others and often assists in caring for the younger children. In recent years, staff recognized additional developmental needs, leading to a diagnosis of autism. Her therapy sessions now focus on both her dyspraxia and autism, helping her build skills, confidence, and independence. Thanks to the consistent care and support she receives, Mary continues to make excellent progress.

Mary is currently in need of sponsorship for both her daily care at Home of Hope and her education. Sponsorship of her care helps provide nutritious meals, clothing, nursing and nanny care, therapy services, and other daily necessities. School sponsorship helps cover tuition, uniforms, books, and school supplies, giving her the opportunity to continue learning and growing alongside her peers.

The cost of sponsorship is $45 per month for either her care or education, or $90 per month to provide both. By sponsoring Mary, you can help ensure she continues to receive the support, therapy, education, and encouragement she needs to reach her full potential and build a brighter future.
